04 Aug Brixham Regatta
Seven ladies and seven men represented Clifton at the Brixham regatta, which was held in glorious weather and sailing conditions on the south Devon coast. Fourteen clubs competed, and Clifton finished eleventh overall, ahead of Rame, Paignton, and Salcombe. Bridport took the honours on the day, with a series of strong performances.
Clifton Ladies’ A got the club off to a great start, finishing 7th in a highly competitive race involving ten boats that saw them catch Ilfracombe on the line. Our Ladies’ Vets followed that up with another strong performance, coming in 7th in a field of twelve. The baton was then passed to the men, who promptly dropped it in their first race, bringing up the rear in the Men’s Vets. Matters improved in the Men’s C race, where we finished 4th out of six. We ended the day’s racing with a sprint in the Mixed Row, finishing last in a field of five.
Brixham ran the event expertly, and a great time was had by one and all. For Matt and Brendan it was the perfect introduction to rowing regattas. Thanks as always to the coxes; Steve, Nina, and Rob.
