07 May Scilly Song for Clifton 2019
To the tune of ‘Daydream Believer’
Here by the sea
Where the rowers like to be
You can have a pastie for your tea
Then when we row
Something really starts to flow
Beer & Wine & Rum & songs we know…
CHORUS
Cheer up Stevie B
Oh, what can it be?
When your girls come fourth in the world
And they still need to pee in the sea
Off from the line
And the start is looking fine
Then the swell, hits Sean on his behind
His face is looking terse
We can’t understand the farce
No-one knows he has blisters on his arse!
We have one new Cox
Who has taken a few knocks
Trying to get his girls to go tick tock
They listened to his tongue
They were ready, they were sprung
They just didn’t know they were rowing without a bung!
Every day we take the boat
From the sea where she does float
And we dance up the beach like a mountain goat
Avona’s on the trolley
And we’re avoiding any folly
Until Debs goes arse over tit like a complete wally!
Out there we had 4 crews
Maybe not as good as Looe
But rowers fit & proper through and through
We were all put to the test
With no chance or time for rest
Its clear that Clifton rowers are the Best!
We are all here today
And we’ve come from far away
But I bet that we have all enjoyed
When we’re cramping on our abs
And taking care of our nautical jobs
Remember Avona was built by Brian Nobbs
So, before we go tonight
And in the Mermaid start a fight
Just remember what’s proper & true & right
If we want to chase the dream
And – keep the rowing clean
We must keep together as this team….
